Summary
ScoreGeek is a board game score tracker operated by Rebrand Software, LLC, an independent developer studio. Your games, scores and account belong to you. We don't sell your data. Unlike an app that holds health or money details, ScoreGeek holds games: who played, who won and by how much. The sections below say exactly what we collect, who can see it, and how to remove it.
What we collect
- Account identifiers: your email address and, if you sign in with Google or Apple, the identifier they give us. This is how we recognise your account.
- Your profile: your display name, username, picture, BoardGameGeek username if you add one, your player card (colour, background, the awards you choose to show), your settings, and the time zone your device reports, so that a "day" in your statistics is your day.
- Your games: every game you score or join: the game, the scoring sheet, the players and their seats, colours, factions and teams, every score and line, how long it took, where it was played if you say, the notes you write and the photos you add (photos are a Premium feature).
- The people you play with: the names and pictures you give the players on your list. A player who has a ScoreGeek account of their own can link to it by scanning your code, and then appears under their own name and picture, and only with the permission they chose.
- Ratings and awards: the skill ratings and awards your games earn, worked out from the games above.
- Rules questions: when you ask a rules question from the play screen, the question, the conversation so far, and the game, expansions, player count and scoring sheet it is about are sent to Anthropic's Claude to answer. We keep a record of each question's size and cost, so we can apply the daily allowance, not your conversation.
- Payment details: if you subscribe to Premium, Stripe (or the App Store or Google Play) handles your card. We receive only your subscription status and an identifier for it.
- Imports from ScoreGeek 1: if you import your old games, the username and password you give for the old service are used once to fetch them and are never stored. What was fetched is kept for a week so you can finish the import, then removed.
- BoardGameGeek: if you publish a play to BoardGameGeek, the password you enter is used for that request only and never stored.
Who can see what
- Your games are seen by you, by the people at the table who have accounts, and by the members of a ScoreGeek 1 group history you joined. A photo of a game is kept at an address nobody could guess; anyone you give that address to can open it.
- Leaderboards and your public profile are off until you switch them on in Settings. Your awards hall is a separate switch, also off until you choose it.
- From Your Table: when you and another person each have the other on your players list, each of you can see the awards the other earned lately on the dashboard. Blocking someone ends it, as does a permission you gave by scanning a code running out.
- Everyone's numbers: see the next section. Nobody can see your games in them.
Everyone's numbers
Each game's page shows numbers made from everyone's games of it: how often it is played on ScoreGeek, how many people play it, the player counts it is played at, a typical score and what it takes to win at each player count, how often it is a close finish, and how long it takes.
- They are totals, never anyone's games. No name, account, player, place or single game is in them or can be read from them.
- Nothing is shown from a small number of games. A game needs at least 30 games from at least 5 accounts before any number appears, and each player count at least 10 games from 3 accounts, so nobody's own results can be worked backwards out of a total.
- They are made once a night, from finished games. Practice games, games of one player and games with impossible scores are left out, a game two people both logged counts once, and no single account can be more than about a quarter of a game's numbers.
- You can leave your games out: Settings, Account, Everyone's numbers. Every game you sat in is then left out from the next nightly update, and a game you are added to later within a week. A game is left out whenever anyone at the table has switched it off, and stays out if you later delete your account.
Where it lives
Your account and games live in MongoDB Atlas. Sign-in is handled by Firebase Authentication, and Firebase App Check (with Google's reCAPTCHA on the web) confirms that a rules question comes from the real app. Pictures and photos are kept in cloud file storage. Payments and subscription state live in Stripe. Rules questions go from our server to Anthropic. Game names, pictures and rules discussions come from BoardGameGeek. All connections use HTTPS.
What we don't do
- We don't sell or rent your personal data.
- We don't show advertising.
- We don't use your data to train AI models.
- We don't share your games with anyone outside the table, except as the totals described in Everyone's numbers, which you can switch off.
Cookies
We use the essential cookies sign-in needs (Firebase) and those Stripe's checkout sets. On the web, Google's reCAPTCHA (part of App Check) sets its own cookies and reads signals from your browser to tell the real app from a script. We do not set advertising cookies.
Deleting your data
You can delete your account from Settings (Account, Delete Account). That removes your ScoreGeek account, profile and ratings and takes you off every board at once. For the rest to be removed as well (your sign-in record with Firebase, your picture, and the games, players, places and photos you recorded), or for a copy of it first (Export, with a Premium subscription), write to us and we will do it. Until then the games you recorded go on counting in everyone's numbers, unless you switched that off before deleting.
Children
ScoreGeek is not meant for children under 13 to sign up on their own. A parent may keep scores for a family, children included, on their own account. If you believe a child has signed up, write to us and we will remove the account.
Changes
When we change this policy we change its effective date at the top.
